Red Ribbon Essay
Write a short essay to 8th grade students as encouragement during Red Ribbon week. In this essay, you should share your personal experiences and/or advice concerning the use/abuse of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. In this case, you are the “authority” figure–someone who has experienced the ups and downs of high school and has a valuable voice to those about to walk the halls of CHS.
Your essay should be typed, and should be approximately 1 1/2 pages long (MLA format). You should use first and second person, to emphasize you are a “real person” talking to another “real person.” Use specific REAL examples to illustrate your ideas, but be mindful of how much private information you should share. Remember that your audience is your instructor, school counselors and administrators, middle school instructors, and 8th grade students.
